(GREELEY, COLO) - On February 15, 2026, at approximately 2:41 p.m., an off-duty member of the Greeley Police Department was in a crash with a pedestrian. Adam Turk, chief of the Greeley Police Department, struck a bicyclist in his unmarked patrol vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe, on West 26th Street and 53rd Avenue in Greeley.
The preliminary report shows that the bicyclist, a 15-year-old male, was riding north on a non-paved multi-use trail in Josephine Jones Park, approaching West 26th Avenue. The unmarked patrol vehicle was traveling west on West 26th Street, just west of 53rd Avenue. The bicycle traveled across the eastbound lane and into the westbound lane of West 26th Street, failing to yield to traffic, when the unmarked patrol vehicle collided with the right side of the bicycle.
The bicyclist was transported to a local area hospital with injuries and has since been released. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
