Grass Fire in North La Junta Quickly Contained to Under One Acre After Controlled Burn Escapes

At approx 344pm, we were dispatched to the 1800 blk of Himebaugh in North La Junta for a reported grass fire.

Upon arrival crews found a slow moving fire that was heading toward the river bottom. Crews began a quick attack on the head of the fire.

Once contained the fire was less than an acre and crews worked on full extinguishment of all hot spots and perimeter.

The cause of the fire was from a control burn that got out of hand from the land owner.
