― PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT ―
Resurfacing project to begin on US 160 west of Walsenburg

Motorists should plan for up to 15-minute delays

Huerfano County — The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contract partner, United Companies, will begin a resurfacing project along US Highway 160 from Colorado Highway 12 to Walsenburg. Starting April 6, motorists should plan for up to 15-minute delays.

The project will improve approximately 11 miles along US 160 west of Walsenburg from Mile Point 294.4, near US 160/CO Highway 12 intersection, to MP 305.4, near Main Street in Walsenburg. Roadway work will include milling old asphalt, paving with new asphalt, bridge deck repairs, road sign replacement and striping.

"US 160 between CO 12 and Walsenburg is an important tourism corridor for southern Colorado, providing access to local communities and connecting travelers to Interstate 25," said Region 2 Transportation Director Shane Ferguson. "This project is part of CDOT's comprehensive 10-year plan and will provide a smoother, safer road surface for motorists."

The project is scheduled for completion in September.
