Bessie M. (Conyers) Lantz, 81, of La Junta, Colorado, passed away on April 21, 2026, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 4, 1944, in Sugar City, Colorado. Her favorite aunt Pauline “Tom” Marrow delivered her into this world to Vernon Kenley and Mabel Wilson.

Bessie’s brother, Joe Hobbick, introduced her to his friend, Owen Lantz, and they soon became sweethearts. They were married in La Junta in 1964. Together they had three children: Kevin, Paula and Kim. Later, they were blessed with four grandchildren: Sarah, Dillon, Coleton and Sammi.

Bessie took an early retirement to stay home and take care of her grandchildren, which was the greatest enjoyment. She loved spending time with family, and she taught her kids and grandkids how to cook and bake. She made all holidays incredibly special, especially Christmas. She will be deeply missed.

Bessie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Owen Lantz; daughters, Paula Mahoney and Kimberly Morlan; grandchildren, Sarah Mahoney, Dillon Morlan, Coleton Morlan, Sammi (Nick) Mahoney Pankratz; sisters, Cora (Stan) Krol and Valerie Kenley-Bablitz; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Kevin Lantz; mother, Mabel Conyers; father Vernon Kenley; father-in-law, Sherman Lantz; mother-in-law, Adelia Lantz; numerous siblings, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law; special cousin Mabel (Luther) Britton; and niece LouAnn Lantz

Graveside service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at East Holbrook Mennonite.
