LAS ANIMAS POLICE HAPPENINGS: 04/12/26 through 04/18/26

* 04/12/2026 - HEALTH OR SAFETY OTHER - Case is under investigation

* 04/12/26 - HARASSMENT - SUSPICIOUS/HARASSING PHONE CALLS - Officers were contacted at the police department in regards to a phone scam. The incident was documented.

* 04/14/2026 - THEFT -  Officers were contacted at the Las Animas Police Department in regards to a possible theft. The reporting party was given statements and asked to follow-up when completed. No response to date.

* 04/14/26 - CIVIL STAND-BY - Complainant advised they needed a civil stand-by to pick some of their personal belongings from an address in the 900 block of Elm Street, City of Las Animas, County of Bent, State of Colorado. Officer stood-by while the RP obtained their personal belongings without incident. 

* 04/14/2026 - AGENCY ASSIST - ASSIST OTHER AGENCY - Officers of the Las Animas Police Department responded to the 600 block of Locust to assist the US Marshalls with an arrest warrant. Law Enforcement was able to identify and arrest Jennie Martinez of Las Animas. Martinez was transported by the Las Animas Police Department to the Bent County Jail and held on the Warrants. 

* 04/14/2026 - SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY - Complainant advised they found what they believed as prescription medication in their front yard of the 1100 block of 5th Street, City of Las Animas, County of Bent, State of Colorado. Officer took items without incident. 

* 04/15/2026 - INFORMATION MATTERS - Officer met with individuals in the 500 block of Poplar Avenue, Las Animas, Colorado regarding information concerning an incident, which occurred the night prior. Matter was discussed and concluded. 

* 04/15/2026 - HARASSMENT - HARASSMENT, OTHER - Officers responded to the 100 block of 6th Street to investigate a possible adult abuse case. Case was unfounded. 

* 04/15/2026 - JUVENILE PROBLEM - Officer responded to the 1900 block of 6th Street for a juvenile problem. This case has been documented. 

* 04/16/2026 - PROTECTION ORDER VIOLATION - Officers responded to the 1000 block of Grand Avenue for a possible restraining order violation. After investigation, no criminal action was taken.

* 04/16/2026 - LARCENY, FROM VEHICLE - Complainant advised of a leaf blower taken while they were work in the 600 block of Grand Avenue, City of Las Animas, County of Bent, State of Colorado. RP advised the leaf blower was valued at $250.00. Matter under investigation. 

* 04/17/2026 -VEHICLE THEFT, AUTO STOLEN VEHICLE - Officers were dispatched for agency assist in the 1200 blk of 6th street. 

Officers were notified of a stolen vehicle linked to the JUV in this case. 

* 04/18/2026 - HARASSMENT ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION --- Officer responded to the 600 block of Moore Avenue on a report of possible harassment and a suspicious person. This case has been documented. 

* 04/18/2026 - SEXUAL ASSAULT, ELDERLY - Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of 3rd street to take a report of sex assault. This case is still being investigated. 

* 04/18/26 - TRESPASSING, PRIVATE PROPERTY - Officer responded to the 500 block of 5th St on a report of a male party wearing black shirt grey sweatpants trying to break into an abandon house through the window, suspect left the area on a red bike. Officer observed the suspect in the 300 block of Grand St. Officer contacted the suspect and questioned the suspect regarding the incident. Suspect was advised and trespassed from the residence. 

* 04/18/2026 - TRESPASSING, PRIVATE PROPERTY - Officer responded to the 300 block of 6th Street on a report of criminal trespassing. A summons was issued in this case. 

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
