Manzanola School District Mourns Tragic Loss of Student David Pettes, Counseling Support Available
It is with deep sadness that we share the news that one of our students, David Pettes, passed away last evening as a result of a car accident. This tragedy was in no way the fault of our student, and our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
This is an incredibly difficult time for our entire school community — students, staff, and families alike — and we want each of you to know that you are not alone in your grief. Today, our foremost priority is to be present for one another and to offer every measure of support we can.
Counselors are available at school today and in the coming days for any student or staff member who needs someone to talk to. Please do not hesitate to reach out — there is no right or wrong way to grieve, and support is here for anyone who needs it. Additional information regarding counseling services, school schedules, and related resources will be communicated as soon as possible.
We ask that all condolences, donation inquiries, and requests for information be directed through the school district rather than to the family directly. This will allow the family the time, space, and privacy they need during this profoundly painful period.
Thank you for the grace, compassion, and care that we know this community will show in the days ahead.
