Alamosa Police Seize 6,000+ Fentanyl Pills, Firearms and Narcotics in Major Multi-Agency Drug Bust

Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug Distribution Seizure
Alamosa, CO – Starting May 7th, 2026 through May 8th, 2026, the Alamosa Police Department (APD) concluded a significant multi-agency narcotics investigation resulting in the seizure of thousands of lethal fentanyl pills, various illicit drugs, firearms, and multiple arrests across the San Luis Valley.
At approximately 1:14 am, APD Detectives, in coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), conducted a traffic stop on Highway 160 at Highway 159. Following an alert by an APD K9, officers discovered over 6,000 fentanyl pills and U.S. currency.
The occupants, Dale Tardona (42) and Ileaha Gallegos (45), both of Manassa, were taken into custody on Drug Felony 1 charges.
The investigation continued throughout the day with the execution of two search warrants in Manassa:
200 Block of Morgan Street: Officers seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, and several firearms. An 18-year-old female at the scene was provided immediate recovery resources by the Alamosa LEAD substance abuse specialist.
300 Block N. 4th Street: Detectives located a juvenile female alone in the residence. She was medically evaluated and placed in the care of Child Protective Services. A search of the home yielded a large amount of U.S. currency, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and items used to conceal and transport illicit narcotics.
The Alamosa Police Department extends its gratitude to the DEA, Conejos County Sheriff Garth Crowther, the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office, CBI, and the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for their vital assistance in this ongoing investigation.
