Description: The local car club met May 5 to discuss upcoming events, including Cruise Night on May 23, the June 2 hamburger fry at La Junta City Park, summer car shows, parades and plans for future youth car maintenance workshops.

Minutes of the May 5 Meeting
President Wayne Potter called the meeting to order. 26 members were present. He led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer was offered by Karen Menges.
Old Business
Wayne will reschedule the trip to the Vehicle Vault in Parker. Plan A is for August 22 - Plan B - August 29.
The car show and parade in Las Animas for Santa Fe Trail Days was well attended. Thanks go to Missy and Doug Ricken for the work they did on that day.
Due to a scheduling conflict the Cruise night has been moved from May 16 to May 23. Meet at La Junta City Park at 7:00 p.m. in your cruise car.

New Business
Greg reported that Casa del Sol invited members and their old cars to a men's barbecue. Dates have not been set yet, so watch your texts for more info.
It was suggested that at our car show we have workshops to teach young people how to maintain their car. Examples: oil changes, battery cleaning and changing, testing antifreeze, and tire changing among others.
Entertainment and Treats
Jimmie Martinez set up a derby car racetrack and regaled us with races. He also spoke of how to make the cars and some history of the Scouts and races. He is hoping to set up the track at the September car show and wants everyone to make a car. Terry has wood blocks and will donate them to whoever wants to build a car. Vicki then served us ice cream with brownies shaped like race cars.
Meeting Adjourned.
