Walsenburg Junior/Senior High School Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat

We were notified of a potential bomb threat and reports of weapons at Walsenburg High School. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded and safely evacuated the school.

Law enforcement teams are currently working to clear the scene and ensure the area is safe.

The student reunification area will be at the Outdoor Learning Center on the east side of Peakview, located on W. Pine Street. Parents and guardians should report there and work with school staff to reunite with their child.

Please contact the Walsenburg Police Department at a later time with questions or concerns, as emergency personnel are actively managing the incident.

Situation Update from Huerfano County Sheriff’s Office:

Several law enforcement agencies responded to Walsenburg Junior/Senior High School for a report of a bomb and shooting threat.

The students and staff were safely evacuated.

The school was searched and no threat was found. The Huerfano County Sheriff's Office would like to thank Walsenburg Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Department of Wildlife, and Colorado Department of Corrections-Parole for their quick response to this threat.
