Colorado State Patrol Releases Preliminary Report on CO Hwy 71 Rollover Crash
The Colorado State Patrol Public Information Officer reported that state troopers responded to a single vehicle crash at 9:32 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at mile post 12.6 on CO Hwy 71 near Rocky Ford in Otero County.
Vehicle Description:
Vehicle One: 2004 Silver GMC Envoy SUV
Crash Narrative:
Vehicle One, a 2004 Silver GMC Envoy, was traveling northbound on CO Hwy 71 near mile post 12.6 when it traveled off of the left side of the roadway near Otero County Rd DD. After leaving the roadway, Vehicle One went over an embankment and through two fences. The GMC Envoy then went airborne of County and rolled 1/4 time landing on it's passenger side.
There were two occupants in the vehicle according to the Colorado State Patrol PIO. A 28 year-old female with serious injuries was transported for medical treatment. Both parties were wearing seatbelts, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The Colorado State Patrol reports that the crash is under active investigation.
