Obituary

Theodore (Teddy) Gallegos, Jr. passed away August 8, 2026, at Memorial Hospital Central in Colorado Springs. He was born June 22, 1948, In La Junta, CO., to Theodore and Eleanor Gallegos. As a young man Teddy was very athletic and loved all sports. He particularly enjoyed baseball and track. As an adult he earned the nickname “The Coach” by family members for his passion for sports, sports trivia, competitiveness, teaching others how to play a particular sport or commenting on how it needed to be done correctly. During his school years, he was drawn to music and mastered playing drums. He played for the Rocky Ford High School Band as a drummer, where he graduated in 1967. His love for different types of music resulted in him playing with many local bands across the southern Colorado region and the Colorado Springs area.

He spent the majority of his professional career working for Hewlett Packard and the City of Colorado Springs before retirement. During retirement he enjoyed spending time with family, friends and the companionship of his beloved dog, Suzi Q and cat Samuel L. Jackson. Teddy was a hard worker, and a very giving and caring person who will be greatly missed by many. He was always in good spirits; had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh.

Teddy is survived by his daughter Michellene (John) Guerrero of Pueblo, grandchildren Chase Harrison and Jagger Highberger of Pueblo. Sisters Shirley Gallegos of Colorado Springs, Lorraine (John) Phillips of Canon City, brothers Ken Gallegos and Dean (Nicole) Ortega of Colorado Springs, Michael (Annetta) Gallegos of Thornton, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Eleanor Gallegos. 

Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
