Pueblo County Sheriff's Deputies and members of our Emergency Services Fire Team assisted in safely rescuing a man from his truck after it was swept off the road by rushing water in the 6500 block of Red Creek Springs Road West on Thursday. The truck was pushed off the roadway into a ditch and partially submerged after the driver attempted to cross in an area with running water flowing over it from the evening's rainstorm. The driver was uninjured.

This incident serves as a reminder to motorists that, with rain and potential flash flooding in our forecast, they should be cautious when out on the roads during and after the storms. Flash flooding can occur suddenly, bringing with it rushing water that can quickly create dangerous conditions.
Remember to:

• Stay out of flooded areas.

• If you approach standing or flowing water, turn around, don’t drown.

• Don’t drive through standing or rushing water. Floodwater can hide debris, trees and rocks.

• Move to higher ground if flooding threatens.
