Early Morning Fatal Crash on I-25
The right lanes are closed
(ADAMS COUNTY, COLO) - On August 17, 2026, at approximately 5:25 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a crash on northbound I-25 at milepost 215 (E. 58th Ave) in Denver, CO.
Preliminary reports indicate there was a two-vehicle crash involving a Toyota Prius and a Chevrolet Silverado. The Chevrolet Silverado lost control, traveled onto the right shoulder, and struck a pedestrian on the right shoulder of I-25. The pedestrian was thrown over a concrete barrier and landed on Broadway Street.
The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Adams County Coroner will release the identity of the pedestrian once the next of kin has been notified.
The right two lanes are closed. It is unknown when the roadway will fully reopen. Check COtrip.org for updates. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit is the lead agency investigating the crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
