Swink, Colorado House Fire: Two Taken to ER as La Junta Fire Department Battles Blaze
This morning at approx 601am, a reported structure fire was toned out at 402 Holly in Swink.

Upon arrival heavy fire was visible on the back corner of the house and garage, and heavy black smoke showing from the front door and eves of the house.

Aggressive offensive attack was made with crosslays and a 2 1/2in blitz attack nozzle through the front door. All parties were out of the house upon arrival of the first units.
The spread of fire was increased by propane bottles venting on the back porch shooting fire into the house and garage. The house to the South was protected with one of the attack lines.

All utilities were disconnected. Fire started showing through the roof so crews inside pulled ceilings throughout the house to make sure of full extinguishment.

Extensive salvage and overhaul was performed for full extinguishment of fire throughout the property.
Mutual aid was called in from Rocky Ford Fire, Cheraw Fire and Las Animas Fire.
City workers from town of Swink assisted as well as OCSO.
The two occupants were transported by ambulance to the ER to be checked out for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and thank you to all who assisted and the citizens of Swink who helped with everything as well.
