Prowers County Commissioners Thank Law Enforcement Following Apprehension of Homicide Suspect

LAMAR, COLORADO — August 18, 2026 — The Prowers County Board of County Commissioners extends its sincere appreciation to the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office, Lamar Police Department, and all assisting law enforcement agencies for their coordinated efforts that led to the safe apprehension of a Northglenn homicide suspect in the Lamar area.

The suspect was wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing in Northglenn on August 14. After a vehicle pursuit in neighboring counties, the suspect crashed near Lamar, and then fled on foot. Law enforcement agencies from across the region responded and conducted an extensive search before successfully taking the suspect into custody approximately 24 hours later.

The Commissioners commend the professionalism, dedication, and cooperation of all law enforcement personnel involved.

“We are grateful for the work of our Sheriff’s Office, Lamar Police Department, and every agency that responded and assisted.”

The Commissioners also thank local residents for their cooperation and for following law enforcement instructions during the search.
