Official Statement

Earlier today, the Firestone Police Department notified the Patrol of a warrant charging a member of the Patrol with a crime committed while off duty. Sergeant Ryan Holmes was immediately placed on administrative leave upon arrest. He has been employed by the Patrol since July 1998.

We are aware of the criminal charges filed against a member of the Patrol, and we have placed him on administrative leave. These allegations are very serious, and we support the Firestone Police Department's investigation. We recognize that our mission's success depends on maintaining the trust and safety of the public we serve. We respect and defer to the Weld County District Attorney’s Office and our judicial system regarding these charges.

Arrests and charges are merely accusations until and unless a suspect is convicted of a crime. All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
