Wanted Man Arrested; Faces New Charges for Drugs, Weapons and Possession of Stolen Items

Pueblo, CO: Pueblo County Sheriff’s detectives working with the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force arrested a 35-year-old man on August 26, 2026 on several felony warrants and found him with illegal drugs and numerous stolen items, to include a handgun and a motorcycle.

Rodrigo Ruiz was arrested after detectives located him at a home in the 1600 block of Anthalie Street. Ruiz was wanted on warrants for second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and felony menacing.

When detectives contacted Ruiz, they found he was wearing body armor which had recently been reported stolen. Detectives also discovered a stolen 2025 Suzuki motorcycle, a stolen handgun and 2 grams each of methamphetamine and fentanyl in his possession.

Ruiz was arrested on the warrants and on new charges of possession of a weapon by a previous offender, aggravated motor vehicle theft, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon. He has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

A woman who was with Ruiz was also arrested on unrelated warrants. Rita Valdez, 28, was arrested and booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

All parties considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
