Obituary

Carol Ruth Gause of Rocky Ford passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 in Rocky Ford at the age of 93. Carol was born in Rocky Ford to Floyd & Edna Sanders. She grew up in Rocky Ford and graduated from Rocky Ford High School Class of 1951. Carol married Don Gause on July 3, 1952 in the Methodist Church in Rocky Ford. Carol worked at Braden’s Drug Store when she was in high school. She then went on to work for Burrell Seed, Fenelson Agency, and then went and ran Don’s Men’s Store with her husband. She loved her family very much. She was very active in the Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School to many children over the years. Carol enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses and feeding the hummingbirds in her yard. She helped to raise money to build Pioneer Hospital in Rocky Ford.

Carol is survived by her husband of 74 years Don Gause, 1 son Scott (Celia) Gause of Denver, 1 grandson: Hunter Gause of NY, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
