City of Lamar Raises Public Awareness About Photo Speed Enforcement
Initiative promotes safer speeds and safer streets for residents, visitors, and motorists
LAMAR, Colo. — The City of Lamar is providing advance public information about automated photo speed enforcement as part of its ongoing effort to reduce speeding and improve roadway safety throughout the community.
The program is intended to encourage drivers to obey posted speed limits and help make Lamar’s streets safer for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, children, and other roadway users.
Automated photo speed enforcement may identify vehicles traveling above the posted speed limit in designated enforcement areas. Motorists should watch for roadway signs, remain attentive to posted limits, and adjust their speed accordingly.
Safety Is the Priority
The goal of photo speed enforcement is compliance—not citations. Lower speeds give drivers more time to recognize hazards, respond to changing traffic conditions, and safely stop for pedestrians, bicyclists, other vehicles, and unexpected roadway activity.
Supporting Broader Traffic-Safety Efforts
Automated enforcement is intended to supplement traditional traffic enforcement and reinforce responsible driving habits. Consistent compliance with posted speed limits can help reduce excessive speeding and improve safety in areas where enforcement is used.
The easiest way to avoid a violation is also the main purpose of the program: follow the posted speed limit.
A Shared Responsibility
Every driver can help make Lamar safer by slowing down, staying alert, avoiding distractions, and respecting posted roadway signs. Safer streets begin with responsible choices behind the wheel, and every trip is an opportunity to put safety first.
Slow down. Stay alert. Arrive safely.
The City of Lamar reminds residents, visitors, and motorists traveling through the community to drive safely and follow all posted speed limits.
Safer drivers. Stronger Lamar. Same roads. Stronger community.
