On September 9, 2026, at approximately 9:09 a.m., officers with the La Junta Police Department responded to the 100 block of East 22nd Street following a report of a potentially suicidal individual who may have been armed with a firearm.

As a precaution, the Police Department immediately issued a shelter-in-place advisory for the surrounding area. After officers investigated the situation, it was determined that there was no threat to the public, and the shelter-in-place advisory was lifted.
