AUTOMATED SPEED ENFORCEMENT

GOES LIVE

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2026

The Town of Kit Carson has installed automated speed cameras along US 40 / US 287 to reduce dangerous speeding through our community. Beginning September 28, 2026, drivers caught speeding in the monitored corridor may receive a citation in the mail at the address of the registered vehicle owner.

The program is authorized under Colorado Revised Statutes § 42-4-110.5. AVIS citations do not put points on your driver’s license. Any notice you receive will include instructions for paying or contesting the citation through Kit Carson Municipal Court.
