Direct Care Workers Must Complete State-Issued “Know Your Rights” Training
Employers are responsible for ensuring all direct care workers complete the course within six months.
(DENVER) — The Division of Labor Standards and Statistics (DLSS) within the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) launched the state’s newly required “Know Your Rights” online course for direct care workers this week.
Per HB 25-1328, direct care employers must ensure their current employees complete the “Know Your Rights” training program by the end of March 2027. For any direct care workers hired after October 1, 2026, employers must complete the training within six months of the hire date.
This one-time course is hosted on directcarecareers.com and covers:
- Wages and overtime
- Paid sick leave and workplace protections
- Family and health care rights
- Travel time rules
- Civil rights at work
- How to file a complaint
- How to use the Direct Care Workforce website and DCC platform including:

- The benefits of participating
- How your contact information may be shared
Workers will need to create an account on the Direct Care Careers platform in order to get started.
Employers in the industry may face fines of up to $100 for each direct care worker affected by each violation if they cannot provide documentation that their workers have completed the training.
