This morning at approx 503 am, a reported structure fire was toned out at 14 W 7th in La Junta. The crew was on scene for a smoke call and upon the 360, they saw smoke coming from the attic and eves.

A full structure alarm was called. Crews began working on the access to the attic and a supply line was established.

Interior crew ended up pulling ceiling in the living room and found smoke and a smoldering fire from two roof trusses and insulation.

There was old knob and tubing wiring running across the trusses. Vent fan was set up in the door way to clear the smoke. Minimal water was used to extinguished the fire.

City electric crew disconnected power to the house. Cause of fire was from the old wiring and excessive use of electricity.
