Obituary
Beverly June Hutchins passed away on October 20, 2026, in Pueblo, Colorado, at the age of 88. She was born on November 13, 1937, in her Grandmother McDonald’s home in Alva, Oklahoma, to Donald Willie and Hattie Ilee (Terrill) McDonald.
Beverly spent her early childhood in Fairy, Oklahoma, until the age of seven, when her family moved to Lamar, Colorado. She attended school in Lamar and later married William “Bill” Hutchins on March 10, 1955, in Clayton, New Mexico. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Colleen, Curtis, and Charmaine. In 1955, the family moved to La Junta, Colorado, where Beverly made her home for the remainder of her life.
Beverly dedicated 18 years of service to the United States Postal Service, working as both a part-time and full-time rural mail carrier. She took pride in her work and the relationships she built along the way. Above all, however, Beverly’s greatest love was her family. They always came first, and she cherished the time they spent together. Her love, care, and devotion to those closest to her were an important part of who she was and a lasting reflection of her generous heart.
In her free time, Beverly enjoyed crocheting and was talented in her craft, earning several ribbons for her work at the Rocky Ford Fair. She also loved playing cards with her many friends, sharing laughter and friendship around the table. Some of her happiest memories were made spending time with family and friends at their cabin in Howard, Colorado. Whether creating something beautiful with her hands, enjoying a friendly game of cards, or simply being surrounded by those she loved, Beverly treasured the simple pleasures of life. Beverly will be remembered for her deep love of family, her many friendships, and the special memories she created throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Colleen Dawn Armstrong, Curtis Orlin Hutchins, and Charmaine Dee Tripp; siblings, Loretta Dee Emick and her husband, Jim, and Sam Ray McDonald and his wife, Haide; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann McDonald; grandchildren, Ilee Michelle (Armstrong) DeSoto and her husband, Uriah, Deniece June (Tripp) Armijo and her husband, George, Kimberly Pearl Hutchins and her husband, Justin Ray Beck, Robert Max Armstrong and his wife, Lydia, Vanessa May Tripp, and Angela Michele Ricker and her husband, Garrett; great-grandchildren, Desiree Nichole (Armijo) Stephenson and her husband, John, Hailey Dee (Armijo) Ponce and her husband, Anthony, Avery Dawn Smith, Rebecca Rose Armijo, Antal Bond Vida, George Joseph Armijo Jr., Leon Michael Cabello, Kasba Lea Crutchfield, and Robert Isaiah Armstrong; great-great-grandchildren, Bryan Alexander Pagan and Elle Grace Ponce; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
