Obituary

Bobby E. Maestas, 71, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on November 2, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. Bobby Ernesto Maestas, affectionately known as “Polar Bear,” was born on August 25, 1955, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Marcellina Maestas. He was lovingly adopted and raised by his grandparents, to Paul & Rebecca (Segura) Gallegos.

Bobby was married to Gloria for 42 years. Although their marriage eventually came to an end, those 42 years were an important part of his life’s journey and the family they shared.

Bobby was a hardworking man who believed in working hard and providing for his family. He was dedicated to his work and took pride in being a provider. He worked hard throughout his life to make sure his family was taken care of, and that dedication was one of the many things that defined him.

Bobby was a man with a big heart, a great sense of humor, and a love for the simple things in life. He was a jokester who loved making people laugh and bringing smiles to those around him. If you knew Bobby, you probably had a story to tell or a laugh to remember.

Above all, Bobby loved his family. His children, Yolanda and BJ, were a huge part of his life, and he took great pride in his grandchildren, Shayla, Ezekeal, Malachi, and Dahntay. His love continued through his great-grandchildren, Ronan, Sophia, Giavonna, Aaliyah, Imani, and Santiago. He was also looking forward to meeting his newest great-granddaughter, Kaylianna, who will forever hold a special place in his family’s hearts.

Bobby was a proud Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite team. He loved fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He especially took pride in his plants and flowers, finding joy in watching them grow and sharing them with others. His green thumb was just another way he showed his love. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Dozer.

Bobby was the kind of person who didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed helping friends and neighbors with their yard work and was always willing to share what he had. Whether it was helping someone out, sharing his flowers, telling a joke, or simply spending time with the people he loved, Bobby had a way of making an impact.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his love, laughter, stories, and memories will live on through the many lives he touched. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him more than words could ever express.

Bobby may have left this world, but he will never leave our hearts. His laughter will be remembered, his hard work will never be forgotten, and his love will live on through the generations of family he leaves behind.

Bobby is survived by his children, Yolanda (Thomas Gallegos) Maestas of Colorado Springs, Colorado & Bobby “B.J.” Maestas, Jr. of Rocky Ford, Colorado; grandchildren, Shayla (Brandy Martinez) Torrez, Ezekeal (Lexi Fernandez) Torrez, Malachi (Kayli) Torrez & Dahntay (Liz) Torrez; great-grandchildren, Ronan, Sophia, Giavonna, Aaliyah, Imani, Santiago & Kaylianna; sister, Mary Gallegos & numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Rebecca Gallegos and his siblings, Elmer Diaz & Lillian Maestas.
