Las Animas Community Plans Unsanctioned Santa Fe Trail Day Parade; Unhindered by Bent County Sheriff

City of Las Animas Social Media Thursday:

"It has come to our attention that there may be an un-sanctioned parade tomorrow morning under the guise of City approval.
In our meeting Tuesday night, we voted to open all roads as normal on Friday and keep business as usual down town as the school would not be hosting SFTD activities. That remains in place. No roads will be blocked off by the City of Las Animas.
The City has no power in approving, or denying for that matter, parades through town and recommends following protocol from Public Health."

"Bent County Sheriff Social Media Thursday Evening:
Some Residents of Bent County have chosen get together and peacefully have an outdoor parade, which will not be hindered by the Sheriff’s Office. We stand by all residents right to peacefully assemble.
The Sheriff’s Office will be present at the “parade” to ensure the safety of the people involved and pedestrians."
