VALLEY-WIDE HEALTH SYSTEMS ADJUSTS HEALTHCARE SERVICES AT TWO CLINCS TO PROTECT STAFF AND PATIENTS FROM COVID-19 OUTBREAKS

[Alamosa, CO October 28, 2020] – Staff members at two Valley-Wide clinics in the Arkansas Valley region have either tested positive for COVID-19 or been quarantined due to an  exposure to someone with a positive COVID test. In an effort to protect Valley-Wide’s patients and staff, we have made the decision to temporarily convert medical services being provided at Rocky Ford Clinic and Las Animas Clinic to telehealth only. Dental services at Rocky Ford Clinic are being rescheduled at this time, however, Las Animas Clinic is open for dental services. We expect to resume face-to-face services by Wednesday, November 4. The employees who tested positive are being isolated at home until they are declared safe to return to work.

We understand that accessing these two clinics is not always easy, so we have made the Valley-Wide Ride temporarily available in the Arkansas Valley. If you need free transportation for non-emergent healthcare services please call (833) 350-1113.

Otero County Public Health has declared both Rocky Ford Clinic and La Junta Clinic as outbreak sites. Three or more people must test positive for COVID-19 to qualify as an outbreak site. Rocky Ford has six employees with positive results, and La Junta has three.Rocky Ford and La Junta have three or more employees with positive results. Las Animas Clinic has had only one employee test positive, and is not considered an outbreak site by Bent County Public Health at the time of publication.

If you have had contact with one of the staff members who tested positive, you will be or have already been notified by either a public health official or by a contact tracer. If you have COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), you must call our triage line for advice before seeking in-person care. Our triage nurse can help you decide when to contact your doctor or visit a health care facility, understand your medications, or give you more information about preventative care. There is no cost for using this service.
