Obituary

David Joseph Maestas passed away unexpectedly on June 21, 2023, at the age of 64 in Walsenburg, Colorado. David was born on February 7, 1959, in Denver, Colorado. Dave is preceded in passing by both of his parents, Donald “Woody” Leroy Maestas and Madeline Mary (Gallegos) Boyer.

He will be sadly missed by his children David Jason Maestas and Vanessa Maestas (Matthew) Nelson, grandchildren Aspyn Maestas, David Aidan Maestas, Ava Nelson and Sawyer Nelson and siblings Steve (Jonessa) Maestas, Debra Maestas, Joe Perez, Nancy (Henry) Estrada, Donald (Diana) Maestas and Tony (Bridgete) Boyer. We will miss Dad calling and texting us to share all his nieces and nephews’ milestones and accomplishments, he was so proud of all of you!

Dave grew up in North Denver, Colorado up until he moved to Golden, CO with his mom and stepdad Brian Boyer, where he Bell Jr. High in 9th grade and Golden High School where he graduated from. He lived in and around Denver metro area for most of his life, spending some time in Missouri and California. In his later years he moved to Walsenburg, Colorado where he had many close friends and family that he loved very much. Dave will be remembered for his appreciation of all kinds of cars and motorcycles.

He enjoyed driving fast, pointing out cars on the road that caught his eye, going to car shows and taking care of his beloved Cadillac. Dad liked helping others, feeding his neighborhood deer, listening to rock and roll and Spanish music, and most of all driving to Denver to enjoy his favorite restaurant foods to bring home with him (as he would say snack for the week). He always enjoyed spending time with family celebrating birthdays, graduations, and family reunions.

A Celebration of Life for David Joseph Maestas will be held on September 3, 2023, from 12pm - 5pm at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1187 614 Main Street Walsenburg, Colorado 81089.
