Obituary

A beautiful soul taken too soon…. Christianna Alexis Cappellucci (Clabey) 39, of Ordway, CO unexpectedly passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta, CO. She was born Friday, October 26, 1984, in Salinas, CA to Wallace Clabey & Judith Goularte.

Christie was a force of nature. She didn’t just live life, she EXPERIENCED it! There wasn’t a person in need of a hug or a laugh, not a person with a heavy heart or even just a bad day or week that didn’t get the full Christie treatment; have a beer, “Turn the Page” and find a way to laugh and smile. Her big brown eyes, infectious laugh and smile would coax the most begrudging soul from their malaise. The downtrodden would find themselves with a meal, a drink and a good time, that ended up paid for, the edge taken off their troubles, and perhaps a headache in the AM.

Words to describe Christie range from fun & cheerful, generous & authentic, to smart & successful. Yet all lack the depth or energy to suffice. As a mother at 14, Christie overcame seemingly insurmountable odds, and, with the help from the Ordway community that she loved, who rallied around her and her young son Bradley, she received the highly competitive Masonic Scholarship & became a Registered Nurse who ran the entire medical department at Crowley CCA.

She was loved by so many who all have their own stories of her with her infectious smile, the light & life she brought to every room, and the compassion & goodwill she would spread like wildfire. Christie never met a stranger and to meet her was to consider yourself a friend. Her love language was giving, but she preferred experiences to gifts (but the gifts were still in abundance). Weather it was a family trip, a holiday at Lake Meredith or a dinner out or a home cooked meal with her favorite dish or a new recipe she found.

Her true loves were her “Bubby” Brad, her “Sissy” Alexis, & her “Tater Tot” Tate, and her loving family. She found her person in TJ Oliver, who loved her with every fiber of his being. She was happy & loved to her last moment doing something she loved. Her only regret being missing Brad & Dalley’s wedding on April 20th.

She would tell us all, “Turn the Page, Andale!” …We Love you Mommy. I Miss you my love… ”Love you, Bye!”

“I will mourn you forever

I will miss you every minute

My hands will grow old

Holding a photo of you

And I will die with your name dancing on my lips.”

-Sarah Rian

“Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die, I will die and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it so severely, if anything but death separates you and I” - Ruth 1:16-17

Christie is survived by her husband, TJ Oliver of Rocky Ford, CO; children, Bradley “Bubby” Carnes Clabey & wife, Dalley Gibson of Ordway, CO; Alexis “Sissy” Rusher of Ordway, CO; Tate “Tater Tot” Mason of Ordway, CO; Aaron Oliver of La Junta, CO; Alyx, Sydney & Morgan Oliver of Petal, MS; and Shania McCracken of Canon City, CO; mother, Judith Goularte of Ordway, CO; siblings, Thurman J. Spurlock of Pueblo, CO; Richard Spurlock of Parker, CO; Tony Spurlock of La Junta, CO; and Virginia Spurlock of La Junta, CO; 2 nieces & 8 nephews also survive. She is preceded in death by her father, Wallace G. Clabey; grandparents, Howard & Lillie Lee Clabey and Joseph & Virginia Goularte; brother in-law, Jesse Oliver.

Celebration of Christie’s Life will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Crowley County High School Gymnasium, 602 Main Street, Ordway, CO with Jeb Brown of River of Life Fellowship Church officiating. There will be a celebration of life/potluck gathering following the service, at 12:00 p.m., at the Ordway VFW; 104 Arkansas Ave, Ordway, C0 81063.

Memorial donations can be made in Christie’s name to the Christianna Alexis Clabey Memorial Fund through First National Bank.
