Single-Vehicle Accident on Main Street in Springfield, Colorado
Springfield, Colorado – This morning, at approximately 6:20 AM, the Springfield Police Department, along with Springfield Fire and Springfield EMS, were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle accident in the 600 block of Main Street.
The vehicle involved had veered out of its lane, striking a flowerpot and a utility pole. Fortunately, the driver sustained only what appeared to minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
During the investigation, the driver reported that he had fallen asleep while driving. Evidence at the scene corroborated this account. There is no indication that speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the accident.
We would like to remind all drivers of the importance of staying alert and well-rested while behind the wheel. If you feel drowsy while driving, please pull over safely and take a rest. Your safety, and the safety of others, is our top priority.
