Recipient: Carlin Weber

Nomination Narrative: As the CSU extension agent, I applied for a grant to feed Bent County with emergency food funds provided from No Kid Hungry.  Carlin was so excited to be a part of applying for those funds and stay on top of making sure whether or not we would be funded.

Carlin's heart was making sure that every kid in Bent County was still going to be fed when families were ill, out of work, and were not getting the meals they depended on when they came to school.  When the funding came in, Carlin helped order food, pick it up, and deliver it to our local food banks to be sure that everyone would eat. She loaded and unloaded over 6 tons of food!  She joyfully helped pack bags so youth and families would be fed during the emergency food crisis created by COVID-19.

Carlin was worried that her friends would not have enough to eat during the pandemic, and stated more than once that not eating a healthy meal might keep them from being able to finish school - even if it was online.  Beyond this, Carlin has and continues to serve at the local food banks during her school breaks or in the summer months.  She has shown that she has a real heart for supporting food insecurities in elderly, her own peers, and their families.
