Otero Sheriff Reports: Body Found in Arkansas River

June 26, 2024, La Junta, Colorado.  Otero County Sheriff's Office - At 14:45, Otero County Coroner Robert Fowler called me to advise that based on the two sets of dental records he submitted to the El Paso County Coroner's Office, a positive identification was made of Devlin Cambeul, and the autopsy completed.  

The final cause of death will be released with the final autopsy report, which will be available in the next 12-14 weeks.  The family has been contacted and informed.  Our condolences to his family and friends. - Sheriff Shawn Mobley.

Otero Sheriff Reports: Body Found in Arkansas River

June 18, 2024 at 9:40 PM.  UPDATE - at approximately 18:40 this evening a body was located in the Arkansas River just north of the BNSF rail yard, about 3.14 miles from the head gates. 

Otero Deputies, La Junta Fire Department, Otero Coroner, Otero Emergency Manager and members of the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office responded to assist in the recovery. 

The deceased will be transported to the El Paso County Coroner’s office for autopsy and positive identification.
