Obituary

Everett W. Babb, 89, of La Junta, passed away on August 17, 2026, peacefully at his home. He was born on May 24, 1937, in Cebolla, New Mexico to Richard & Florence (Whaley) Babb. Everett leaves being a legacy of family, friendship and service to the people and community he held so dear.

A proud and dedicated firefighter, Everett gave generously of his time and himself in service to others. His commitment to the La Junta Fire Department, the Bent’s Fort Water Authority Board, Rocky Ford Housing Authority Board and to his community earned him the respect and admiration of many. For Everett, serving others was more than a responsibility, it was a part of who he was.

He treasured his family and the time spent together. He cherished visits from family and friends, whether they came during difficult times, during moments of celebration, or simply stopped by to spend time together.

Everett is survived by his beautiful wife, Mary Babb, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Randy (Carrie) Babb of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Nancy Snell of Canyon City, Colorado; step- children, Mitch (Summer) Aguilera of Richmon, Virginia; Jo Lynn (Rick) Rife of Denver, Colorado, Greg (Hilda) Adame of Lamar, Colorado, Alzado (Angela) Adame of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Haven (Melissa) Adame of Denver, Colorado. Everett is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Florence Babb; children, Debbie (John) Canaday & Rick Babb and sisters, Ellen Babb-Densmore, Rudy Babb & Barbara Babb- Nordyke.

One of Everett’s greatest joys was being a grandfather and great-grandfather who he leaves behind many. He treasured the time he spent with all his grandchildren and great- grandchildren and cherished the memories made with each of them.

His love for his family was evident in the simple moments, and his family legacy will continue for generations.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 26th from 4:00p.m to 6:00p.m. at Perez & Peacock Funeral Home in La Junta, Colorado. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the First Church of the Nazarene at 10:00 a.m. in La Junta, Colorado with Pastor Mark Callister of The First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Graveside service will follow after the service at the final resting place at Wiley Cemetery in Wiley, Colorado.
