Tigers' Tale Spring 2024 -Student Journalists:

Lillie Backes is a 16-year-old sophomore at La Junta Junior/Senior High School. She is the youngest of 4 children. She plans on going to college after high school. She wants to major in marine biology and minor in psychology. Lillie scrolls through her phone, reads, and experiments with food in her free time. Lillie plays volleyball, basketball, and golf for La Junta High School. 

 

Amilee Jimenez is a socially outgoing person. Amilee spends her free time walking her dog, watching drama movies, and being very helpful around the house. Amilee has dedicated herself to majoring in Dental Orthodontics after high school. She was influenced to pursue a career in dentistry because she actually looked forward to her dentist appointments, and she enjoyed watching and studying the different materials/techniques used. Amilee prefers painting and reading in the sun in her free time. Amilee’s accomplishments come from feedback and advice to succeed.

 

Liyah R. Madrid is a tenth grader at La Junta Junior/Senior High School. She has accomplished writing 2 articles that are called: “Reflecting on the January Bomb Threat in East Otero School” and “The Alarming Rise of Teenage Suicides.” She likes to sketch, go on walks, travel out of town, and hang out with her friends during her free time.

 

Catherine is a 16-year-old sophomore at La Junta Junior/Senior High School. Catherine is a softball player and cheerleader. Catherine says her biggest accomplishment so far in life is getting her driver's license. She claims that her father is her biggest motivation as she made a promise to him before he passed, and her biggest inspiration is her best friend Shayle. She describes herself as funny, nice, and “blonde” for her actions. Catherine’s best habit is making friends. She's been complimented on past writings, one of which was a 3-page essay on bunnies.

Kaylee Hernandez is a freshman at La Junta Junior/Senior High School.  She loves cats and dogs and enjoys the comfort of her own bed. She doesn’t like to spend her own money, but if it's her parents’ money, she’s fine with it.  She doesn’t like when the sun is bright and shining or when it's too hot. She’s not a big fan of school, but if it started later, maybe she would like it more.

Marc Otero is a talkative high school senior with a creative mind and immense drive for literature. He likes to write poems and code while his ideal of being influenced to pursue a career was his desire to know what he wants. Marc prefers reading and writing on his own time. His accomplishments come from good positive feedback that influences him to want more.

Dineah Moreno is a sophomore at La Junta Junior/SeniorHigh School. She likes to sing for the high school choir. She even goes out for opportunities of singing a solo or leaving the town or school to be with other great singers. She sang for the arts festival for the first time and it was a solo that she signed up for. She received second place for excellent rating.
