Southeast Colorado Antique Vehicle Club June 2021 - Minute by minute

The June 1st meeting and annual BBQ was to be held at the La Junta City Park but with the weather report projecting rain the club decided to hold the BBQ indoors at the First Christian Church. The meeting got underway at 6:08p.m. with Alvin Grim leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Rethabel Huff gave prayer over the meeting. Twenty-eight members and 3 guests (Phil Youngblood, Andrew Donkle and Sandi cousin to Richard Wittman) were present. Motion was made by Rethabel Huff to accept May 5th minutes with a second from Larry Miller. Motion passed. Treasurer’s report was given by Carol Allen. Larry Miller motioned to accept the treasurers report as presented and seconded by Lee Fulbright/Cheryl Wagner in unison. Motion passed. At this time new member Patty Bennett was introduced, Harry Martin and guest Phil Youngblood.

Old Business - James Huff wanted to Thank Karen Menges for putting on the meal and fun time for last month’s “Women’s Night Out” meeting/dinner.

New Business – ***Remember the Ice Cream Social is July 6th at 7:00p.m. at the La Junta City Park located at the South end of the park. The Wittman’s, Huff’s and Grim’s will bring homemade ice cream. Please bring a topping of choice to share. Need 2/3 desserts. Alvin Grim will get bowls for the evening.

The tour to Danny Round’s Ranch on Sunday June 6th was cancelled due to a family emergency. This tour will be re-scheduled at a later date.

Next discussed were the car shows coming up – they are listed under Upcoming Events for 2021. Larry Miller went to the Florence Car Show, had a good time and was a good turnout. If you have any changes such as phone numbers, e-mails, mailing addresses please let Karen Menges know so she can update member information. Also, if you want to be on the group text list, please let Rethabel Huff know. Rethabel does a Great Job notifying everyone by text when an event is coming up. THANK YOU Rethabel!!

Meeting was adjourned at 6:25.

Those present enjoyed covered dishes, salads, and desserts. The BBQ hamburgers/hot dogs were donated and grilled by Richard and Elaine Wittman. A Big THANK YOU goes out to the Wittman’s!

Laura Thompson invites everyone to join in on Saturday June 26th for a Community Car/Cruise Night. This event will start at 5:30p.m. – 7:00p.m. Parking will be in the parking lot across the street from the Grand Theatre in Rocky Ford. The Grand Theatre will be showing FAST 9.
