Swink School Holds Its 15th Annual Miles for Smiles Walk-A-Thon

By Luis Carale

On Wednesday (10/20/21) afternoon, Swink School held their 15th annual miles for smiles walk-a-thon fundraiser, led by the Swink Operation Smile Club. Operation Smile is a non profit organization that provides life changing surgeries for children with cleft lip or cleft palate, especially in underserved areas.

This year's fundraising is a new high mark in the 15 years the Operation Smile club has held the fundraiser. The students this year have raised more money than ever at almost $5,000. Thirty-two students raised more than $75, granting them an Operation Smile t-shirt. The club advertised the fundraiser by sharing an informational video with the elementary.

The music, sunny weather, and high school students interacting with the younger kids all contributed to the great atmosphere during the event. The successful walk-a-thon was a great way to bring together the community for a good cause.
