Fine Arts League is Featured for First Friday

Friday, November 5, 2021, 5:30  - 7:00 pm
IDEA Place, Rocky Ford

The Fine Arts League located in La Junta has a membership that includes artists and photographers from all over the Arkansas Valley.

It’s 20+ members range from professional artists and photographers, art instructors, up and coming new artists and photographers to the hobbyist.  All are welcome to join their organization.

The Fine Arts League was established in July of 1967 by five founding members.  As the group has grown so has the variety of mediums and formats of art produced by its members.

The exhibit on display at the IDEA Place in Rocky Ford for the month of November includes something for everyone.  Paintings: oils, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed media.  Photography: color, black and white, prints, canvases, and photography on metal.  There is also a couple of pieces of Fiber Arts.

The Fine Arts League has been a long-time supporter of youth artists in the area.  They recognize student artists at the Otero Arts Festival in a variety of categories each year with rosette ribbons and monetary awards.  A recently added category to their annual Early Settlers Day Art Show at the Koshare Museum is the youth category for student artists of all ages up to 18 years old.

Annually the Fine Arts League hosts their Early Settlers Day Art Show at the Koshare Museum the second weekend in September.  The show draws artists and photographers from all over Colorado.

This year’s show had entries from as far away to the north from Ft. Collins all the way to the southeast from Walsh.  The Fine Arts League is appreciative of its active patron membership that helps them give youth awards and support art in the area.

Fine Art League members’ art is available through individual members and at the Junction 50 Galleria, 112 West 1st Street and the Junction Plaza, 319 Santa Fe Ave. in La Junta.  FAL members exhibit in art shows throughout southern Colorado, including State and National art shows and have been featured in National Publications.

The First Friday reception this week at the City of Rocky Ford IDEA Place will feature work of members of the Fine Arts League.  The community is invited to attend the opening of the exhibit and reception on Friday, November 5 from 5:30 pm to 7:00pm, 408 North Main Street.
