A Waxing Moon and Venus Dance in The November Southeast Colorado Sky
Southeast Colorado features a dark night sky, very suitable for stargazing. One of the many advantages of living in a rural community is being able to look up and see the night sky without the light pollution of city lights. Ideal recommended viewing locations in Southeast Colorado are very simple to find and usually lie along the side of a dirt road.

Venus can be seen trailing the moon in the Western sky through the month of November. It is a particularly good time to observe the planet, which is viewable through a good set of binoculars next to the growing Moon, so as the month progresses it will be more difficult to view as it moves away from the Earth and is obscured to view by more intense moonlight.
Twilight on Hwy 50 with the glow of La Junta city lights. A car headlight can be seen heading eastbound while a orange and blue sky begins to fade to black. All the while the waxing crescent moon grows each night this month as it reflects the Sun's light for a few brief hours before sinking below the Western horizon.
