Lady Lions Face Tough Competition at Holiday Shootout

The Swink Lady Lions Basketball Team played hard during the annual Holiday Shootout Tournament in La Junta.

They fell to Sanford in their first game of the tournament. Sanford is expected to make a run at the state championship this season and proved to be tough competition. The final score was 65-14.

Swink Lady Lions Basketball defeated Dolores Huerta Prepatory 45-24 Friday night.

They were defeated by the Monte Vista Lady Pirates in the 5th place finals game Saturday afternoon with a final score of 32 to 39 putting Swink in 6th place for their final tournament standing.

Swink won one of their three games in the tournament, it just so happened to be the only game that counted in league competition.

Bauserman said his team is young and he expects them to improve over the season as they work to strengthen their ball handling. He said that he was proud of their performance in the tournament and expects great things from his girls.
