Otero Administrator Amy White-Tanabe reported that the county has applied for a DOLA grant, The Community Development Block Grant.

Otero County Commissioners meeting seconews.org The grant is for $800,000. Tanabe said, our hope is that this will assist Otero County in moving forward in expanding our detention center.

Letters of appointments were presented by Tanabe.

Tom Seaba's letter was approved for appointment as a representative to the Arkansas Valley Water Basin.

The Commissioners accepted the reappointment of Eva Leyva to the housing board authority board, it is a five year term.

Letter of support for the Santa Fe Trail Youth Symposium held in conjunction with the bicentennial Santa fe trail anniversary. 

Commissioner Keith Goodwin said, any time that we can support our youth while supporting tourism at the same time is a "grand slam."

The letter of support for the Santa fe trail youth Symposium was approved. 

Goodwin said the application for the community development block grant application was a great team effort in pursuit of a great cause that would be of great benefit to the community. 

Felisha's Restaurant and Lounge had their liquor license renewal request approved.

County Clerk Lyn Scott reported that voter participation center cards will be sent out.

She went on to say that third party companies (CBI) are sending out cards to encourage voters to register.

The Post Office also sent out voter cards that had some incorrect information on the cards, according to Scott.

You can verify your voter registration by calling the Otero County Clerks Office, (719)383-3020. They will have drop off boxes available until election day.

Early voting starts October 19th at your local election center.
