Obituary

Jay Dean Scott left this earth for his heavenly home on March 30, 2022. He was born to Paul and Edna Bernice (Bee) Skinner Scott on April 17, 1948, in Fort Collins, CO.

Jay never met a stranger, he liked everyone and would talk to everyone. He graduated from Swink Junior/High School in 1966. He joined the Navy in Dec of 1966. He served on the USS Oriskany. He was so proud to follow in his Dad and his Uncles footsteps.

In Dec of 1967 he married Linda Marshall to whom 3 sons were born, Sean, Michael and Brian. In 2004 he married Lynda Thompson, he adopted her son Spenser in 2009.

Jay held several jobs - but the job he was most proud of was Veteran's Service Officer for the County of Otero. He held that job for almost 8 years and said it was his feel good job.

He leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Lynda “Lyn” and his son Spenser of the family home; sons, Sean (Kozette) of Pueblo, Michael of La Junta, Brian (Jillian) of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren, Austin, Tristan, Landon, Bradley and Zackary. He also leaves behind special friends Rick and Sheari Shoemaker, many many friends, you know who you are and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and grandson Jacob.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church with Pastor John Scott officiating. Interment will follow at the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
