The production team of Picketwire’s Matilda the musical is super excited to kick off the summer production with auditions May 3rd & 5th!  We will be looking for actors and actresses, who are both new and seasoned performers.  Adult and children roles for Matilda include ages 5 and up.  Please come prepared with 16 bars of a song and sheet music if available. You can purchase and download sheet music—for songs ranging from Broadway to current pop hits—on websites such as musicnotes.com. An accompanist will be provided. Songs from this show or from another show are welcomed. You will also be asked to read a cutting from the script.

Headshots and resumes are encouraged, but not required.  Photos will be taken prior to audition.  If necessary, call backs may be requested.

Don’t let that scare you… acting, singing, and dancing support will be provided during rehearsals to help your character and stage presence grow.

Rather not be on stage? We are always in need of backstage crew, costumers, technicians, and stage craft hands!

Note: All ages listed are stage ages; in other words, the age that the performing artist appears, not the performer’s actual age. All characters do not have a specific race or ethnic background; many characters may be performed by artists of any gender presentation; and many characters do not have specific physical capabilities. We're therefore excited to see a diverse pool of artists audition for all roles.

Matilda Wormwood - An imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched.

Miss Agatha Trunchbull - The tyrannical headmistress at Matilda's school who despises children.

SHOW SYNOPSIS

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other's lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
