By Karen Menges Minute by minute Minutes for July 5, 2022

Thirty-one members showed up for the annual ice cream social at the La Junta City Park under the South Gazebo. The evening was a warm one so the members decided to enjoy the ice cream while it was still frozen along with brownies, cookies, toppings of all kinds.

Everyone enjoyed the fellowship and at 6:41p.m. the meeting got underway with President Greg Holt leading the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Rethabel Huff with prayer. A few date corrections were made under the up -coming events before James Huff motioned to accept the minutes with a second from Sam Brittain. Motion passed. The treasurer’s report was given by Carol Allen; Chuck Donkle motioned to accept the minutes as presented and seconded by Karen Donkle.

Motion passed. No new members were present at this time.

OLD BUSINESS – James Huff gave a report on the car show held at the Rocky Ford Cottonwood Manor on June 24th from 11:00-3:00. There was a total of 13 vehicles and 8 of them were club members. Noted was that the Manor treated those that attended very well. Everyone had an enjoyable time and stayed until 2:30p.m.

Karen Menges visited with Angela Ayala about the Tarantula Days coming up October 7th and 8th. Angela would like SCAV Club to participate and gave a choice of either the North or South side of the court house to park vehicles. Most agreed on Saturday Oct. 8th- North side of the court house.

At the last meeting Chuck Donkle mentioned about Cruising to the La Junta Sonic where they would donate 10 percent of sales to the club from 6-9:00p.m. Next meeting is August 2nd. So, the plan is to drive your vehicles to Sonic, come early to eat and then hold the monthly meeting at 7:00 right there on the premises.

NEW BUSINESS –Chuck Donkle attended the Abbey Car Show in Canon City and mentioned that it was Very hot (107) that day.

Karen Menges went over the Birthdays and Anniversaries for the month of July.

Chuck Donkle is ready to put the SCAV Club fliers together and needed a picture of a car and a tractor.

Bill and Carol Allen’s “Tillie” was voted as the vehicle and Jerry and Rita Bay’s tractor. Contact names with numbers will be Greg Holt @ 719-384-8938 gregaholt@yahoo.com and Bill or Carol Allen @ 719-417-0071 for any questions about the car show held on September 17th.
