Kit Carson Sheriff VS Tornados 7/26/22

PRESS RELEASE
Kit Carson County saw two tornados today (7/26/22). One North of Stratton and another West of Vona. Both tornados spent a fair amount of time actively on the ground.
One residence west of Vona had moderate damage to the home and outbuildings.
The radio tower for Vona Fire was also damaged. No one was injured from either tornado.
Thank you to everyone who assisted during those events. Colorado State Patrol, Vona Fire, Seibert Gire, Stratton Fire, EMS, CDOT.
Also a special shout out to our dispatch who were taking a lot of calls during these events and handling a lot of radio traffic.
