Structure Fire in Swink Quickly Squelched
Late Tuesday, La Junta Fire and Rescue Responded to a Structure Fire on Columbia Avenue in Swink. They spent several hours on the call and were assisted by Otero County Sheriff's Office.
Multiple fire engines, an ambulance, and other EMS vehicles were dispatched to a house on Columbia Avenue in Swink.
The initial cause of the fire was undetermined at the time of this report.
The firefighters tapped into the fire hydrant next to the Swink Town Hall and used Fire Engine 1 and plenty of teamwork to put out the fire, which appeared to have started in the basement or crawlspace.
Crews spent several hours and worked into the evening.
