Minute by minute:
On October 3rd at the Ordway City Park twelve vehicles pulled away from the curb heading out to the Crowley County Nursing Care Center. Due to the Covid 19 residents had to view the passing vehicles through their window.
Next drive by would be the Fowler Nursing Home and lastly driving by Rocky Ford Nursing Home.
I’m sure some of the residents reminisce good times in vehicles of that era.
THANK YOU, James Huff, for leading the nursing home tour!
Everyone followed the leader to Terry & Karen Menges’ home for a carry-in hamburger and hot dog fry. It happened to be good weather for this time of year with a lot of fellowshipping going on. Alvin Grim opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Leonard Walgren motioned to accept September’s minutes with a second from James Huff. Motion passed. Carol Allen gave the treasurers report. James Huff motioned to accept the treasurers report as presented with a 2nd from Leonard Walgren. Motion passed. James Huff wanted to thank Harry Martin for allowing the club to roam his property checking out his prize antique vehicles.
NEW BUSINESS – James Huff opened up discussion on the upcoming Chili/Soup Supper being held on Tuesday evening November 3rd.
Chuck Donkle has checked with the Las Animas Museum and got the okay to tour the museum and then venture upstairs (elevator)to the ballroom to eat. The Museum opens at 6:00 p.m. and chili/soup supper starts at 7:00 p.m. James Huff motioned to have the supper at the Las Animas Museum with a second from Bill Allen. Motion passed.
A list went around and here is what’s being brought that evening: • Plates & bowls Gooba Gooba? • (2) green chili tortillas • Chicken noodle soup potato soup • Crackers (2) cakes • Onions & cheese corn bread
James Huff mentioned that we vote on new officers at the November meeting. James went around asking if the current officers would take on an additional year and the response was YES as President Alvin Grim, V Pres.- James Huff, Sec. - Karen Menges, Treasurer/Sunshine Lady – Carol Allen.
Chuck Donkle brought up that Pikes Peak Motors is having a FREE Studebaker car show on Oct. 10th at 10:00 a.m.
Mike West’s service was well represented with 10 cars from the club.
Karen Menges asked about monies given for the use of the First Christian Church if we get credit or money back; since the Covid we haven’t used the church but once.
Christmas is around the corner, Karen Menges checked into the Valley Trading building formerly owned by Glen/John Eberly and now owned by Bo White. The date is set for Tuesday December 1st. Caitlyn Hansen will cater and get a menu by next meeting.
