Bent County Sheriff's Office Weekly Incident Report 3/4-3/10/23

3/4/2023

Deputies responded to the 28,000 block of Highway 101 for a call of suspicious activity. Deputies arrived on scene and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Bent Avenue for a civil problem. Deputies arrived on scene and the problem was resolved without incident. 

Deputies responded to the 0 block of Bent Avenue for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies determined that everything was okay.

3/5/2023

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Moore Avenue for the report of harassment. Deputies determined that everything was okay.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Poplar Ave for a report of a discarded bicycle. A bike was located but unable to be established as stolen. 

Deputies responded to a call on the 900 block of Ash Ave for a report of fraud. Deputies investigated and, due to insufficient information, are unable to take any action.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Grove Avenue for a report of harassment. Deputies investigated and determined that no harassment had occurred. 

Deputies responded to the 12000 block of County Road DD.5 for an out-of-control fire on rural land. Deputies assisted fire departments from Bent County and surrounding counties to bring the fire under control. The Bent County Fire Investigator determined that the fire was not deliberately lit. 

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Ash for a call to assist with a vehicle lockout. Deputies were able to assist with entry into the vehicle.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Poplar to assist Bent County Ambulance Service with a male reporting of a possible heart attack. 

Deputies responded to the vicinity of County Road 36 and County Road NN for a report of a two vehicle crash. All persons involved reported they were uninjured and vehicles were being towed. Colorado State Patrol took control of the crash and advised involved parties to report the crash online.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Bent Avenue and 1st street for speeding. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered the driver had a valid warrant for their arrest. The individual was taken into custody, and transported to the Bent County Jail.

3/6/2023

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Locust for a medical assist. Deputies helped lift the patient.  

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Vine for a noise complaint. Deputies were unable to find any activity. 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Oakland for a 911 misdial. Deputies found everything to be okay.  

Deputies responded to the 100 block of N Bent Avenue for a vehicle lockout. Deputies were able to assist with the vehicle unlock.

Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Ash Avenue for an active warrant. Deputies arrested one female for a warrant and transported her to the Bent County Jail.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Moore Ave of Dogs out. Deputies located the dog and the dog was taken to the pound.

Deputies responded to Fort Lyon for a report of harassment by phone. On arrival, deputies were advised that the reporting party did not wish to make a report. 

Deputies responded to the 1000 block of 2nd street for a burglar alarm. Deputies checked all the doors and found everything to be okay.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Bent for a burglar alarm. Deputies talked with staff who set it off.

Deputies observed a semi truck with 2 blown tires on Highway 50 and mile marker 413. The party advised deputies that they had help on the way. 

Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Carson for a medical assist. Deputies helped load the party.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of 8th st for cones in the road. Deputies put the cone back on the side of the road.

3/7/2023

Deputies received a call back from Bent County Dispatch regarding a civil problem. Deputies called the number back and had no answer.

Deputies conducted a motor assist on Hwy 50 at mile marker 395. The vehicle was moved off the road.  

Deputies responded to the 32000 block of County Road 14 for a report of a burglary alarm. Deputies investigated and after searching the premises, determined that it was a false alarm.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue to assist Bent County Ambulance Service with a patient. The patient declined transport.

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of CR. GG.5 to assist the ambulance. Party was loaded and taken to the hospital in La Junta.

Deputies observed an individual who had a warrant for their arrest in the 300 block of 8th street in Las Animas. Deputies took the individual into custody and transported them to the Bent County Jail. 

Dispatch advised deputies of a sex offender that had failed to register as required. Deputies have applied for a warrant for arrest.

Deputies responded to the Bent County Jail for an altercation. Deputies arrived on scene and all parties were separated. Deputies were unable to receive any statements from the parties involved. 

Deputies responded to the 30000 block of Hwy 183 for a traffic problem. Deputies took a statement from the parties.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of 5th st for a medical assist. Deputies helped load the party.

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of CR GG.5 for a medical assist. Deputies helped load the party.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of 5th St for a medical assist. Deputies helped load the party.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Bent Ave for a fake ID. Deputies took the ID from the business.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 5th st for a suspicious person. Deputies talked to the owner of the house and the people were okay to be there.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th Avenue for a report of a counterfeit $100 bill that had been used in an attempt to purchase items. Deputies investigated and took the counterfeit bill into evidence.

3/8/2023

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and County Road 12 for a suspicious person. Deputies located the party and gave them a ride to La Junta.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Bent Ave for a report of a disturbance. All individuals left the area.

Deputies were dispatched to a vehicle lockout at the 400 block of Vine Avenue. Deputies arrived on scene and were able to open the door.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of 6th Street for an ambulance assist. An elderly female was transported to the hospital by Bent County Ambulance Service.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th Avenue for a report of a civil disturbance. Deputies investigated and resolved the issue by assisting the male party with his inquiry.

Deputies took a report at the Bent County Sheriff's Office regarding a stolen social security number. The suspect is not known at this time. Social Security was informed.

Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Carson Avenue for a report of a party with an active warrant in the vicinity. Deputies were unable to locate the party at this time.

3/9/2023

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Oak Avenue for the report of an unwanted party. Deputies were unable to locate the unwanted party.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the area. Deputies investigated and the driver had stopped in the area for a break.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 7th St. on a report of a 911 misdial. Deputies were unable to locate the individual who called. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Vigil Ave to assist the ambulance. That party refused transport and will make a local appointment. 

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Vine Avenue for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted with the transport of the patient to the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of CR 15 to assist the ambulance. The party was loaded and transported to the hospital in La Junta. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Moore Avenue for a vehicle lockout. Deputies arrived on scene and the vehicle was successfully unlocked. 

Deputies were requested to assist with the movement of cattle alongside US50 in the vicinity of County Road 32, by blocking the flow of traffic on US50 during the movement. The cattle were moved without incident.

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and mile marker 394 to assist the State Patrol on a traffic stop. Deputies assisted the State Patrol.

Deputies responded to Fort Lyon for a call of a person threatening to commit suicide. Deputies investigated and established that the address provided for the person was incorrect and they were in fact located in Denver. Denver PD were contacted and dispatched to attend.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 5th street for a call of an unwanted person. Deputies arrived on scene and determined it was a civil matter. 

Deputies were dispatched to the 10,000 block of HWY 194 for an abandoned dog. Deputies could not take the dog because it was out of city limits. 

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Carson Avenue for an ambulance call. Deputies arrived on scene and assisted medical staff. The patient was loaded on the ambulance and transported to the hospital. 

Deputies saw a dog out on the 400 block of Moore Ave. Deputies returned the dog to the homeowner.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 5th street for a call of theft. Deputies arrived on scene and determined it was a civil matter. 

Deputies were approached while on an unrelated call, about a possible missing child. Deputies investigated and determined that the child was not missing.

Deputies responded to the 1800 block of Ambassador Thompson for a welfare check. Deputies arrived on scene and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies responded to the 900 block of Vine Avenue for a report of a trailer that had been backed into by another vehicle. Deputies investigated and have provided the owner with the information required.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 5th Street for the report of an unwanted party. After further investigation, deputies determined that it was a civil issue.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Grand Avenue for a call of a vicious dog out. Deputies arrived on scene and the dog was taken to the pound. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th Street for the report of a suspicious person. Deputies were unable to locate the person.

Deputies responded to Columbine Place for the report of a traffic issue. Deputies issued a warning.

3/10/2023

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of CR 15 on a report of trespassing. Deputies found the party to have an active warrant and took him into custody. 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Bent Avenue for a report of forgery. Deputies investigated and inquiries are continuing.

Deputies responded to the 11,000 block of CR GG.5 on a report of fraud. Deputies are still investigating this incident. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of 2nd St. to assist the ambulance. The party was loaded and transported to the hospital in La Junta. 

Deputies completed a call back to a party about possible stolen tools. Deputies informed the reporting party since neither party is in Bent County, they would need to contact the correct agency.

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of CR 15 to assist the ambulance. The party was loaded and transported to the hospital in La Junta. 

Deputies were conducting traffic enforcement on Hwy 50 near MM 400. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and the party was issued a summons.

Deputies responded to the 1,300 block of 6th St. for a report of suspicious activity. Deputies investigated and trespassed the three minor children.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Poplar Ave for a report of an assault. Deputies spoke with the reporting party and are unable to identify the suspect.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Poplar Ave for an unwanted party. Deputies spoke with the reporting party as the unwanted party already left the area.

Deputies responded to the intersection of County Road GG.25 and County Road 11.5 for the report of a fire. Deputies detained two male individuals and transported them to the Bent County Sheriff's Office for questioning.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th St. for a report of suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies responded to the 1800 block of Ambassador Thompson Boulevard for the report of a welfare check. Deputies were unable to locate the party.

Deputies responded to the 10,000 block of Highway 50 for the report of a possible domestic issue. Deputies were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
