La Junta Senior Golf Returns to Action

The La Junta Seniors Golf League begins on Tuesday April 18, 2023.  This league invites men and women golfers 55 years of age and older.  (Note: anyone who has previously played in the league that is under 55, but older than 50, is “grandfathered” in and will be allowed to participate.)  Registration for play will be from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. on the porch of the restaurant at the golf course.  Golfing will begin around 10:00 a.m.  (These times will be earlier as the stability of the weather and temperatures improve.)

We play an easy format:  Scramble, improved lie (no more than one club length), no handicap and a modified blind draw for teams.  Also various putting and chipping challenges are held weekly.

Men under the age of 70 years play the longer of the red or yellow tee boxes.
Men ages 70-79 play the shorter of the red or yellow tee boxes.
Men ages 80-89 play the orange tee boxes.
Men over 89 years play the white tee boxes in front of the orange tee boxes.

Women under the age of 70 years use the orange tee boxes.

Women 70-79 years tee off at white tee boxes in front of the orange tee boxes.
Women 80 years and older tee off 15 yards in front of the white tee boxes.

Entry fee for play is $10 each week.  Non-club members will need to go to the club office to pay green fees and cart fees (if needed).  There will be no league on Tuesday, May 31.

In celebration of opening day, CaSandra Thomas is providing cupcakes following play.  Let’s have another great year!
