Bent County Sheriff’s Office Weekly Incident Report 3/25-3/31/23

3/25/2023

Deputies responded to the 700 block of Moore Avenue for the report of a public service request involving the voluntary repossession of a vehicle. Deputies assisted the public with the repossession. 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Ambassador Thompson Boulevard for the report of a suspicious person. Deputies were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Moore Avenue for a property dispute. Deputies found the situation to be civil and advised both individuals how to move forward. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of St. Vrain Ave for a report of a mental subject. Deputies spoke with the party and determined everything was okay.

Deputies responded to State Highway 50 in the area of Mile Marker 422 for a report of a possible rolling domestic. Deputies overheard, via radio, that Prowers County was able to stop the vehicle on State Highway 287. 

Deputies spoke to the reporting individual, via phone, about an incident that occurred in the 400 block of Grove Avenue. Deputies found this to be a family issue.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of 5th St for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted ambulance personnel.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Cottonwood Avenue for the report of a dog on the loose. Deputies took the dog to the Las Animas dog pound.

Deputies responded to the 8000 block of County Road GG in Las Animas, Colorado for the report of suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate anyone suspicious.

3/26/2023

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and Milepost 398 for the report of a motorist assist. Deputies assisted the motorist.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Locust Avenue for the report of a burglary in progress. After further investigation, deputies determined that everything was okay.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of Maple Avenue for an animal call. Deputies arrived on scene and took the dog to the pound. 

Deputies received a call for theft. Deputies attempted to contact the reporting party but were unsuccessful. 

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and mile marker 401 for a call of a reckless driver. Deputies conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle. The driver was issued a citation.

Deputies responded to the 1200 block of 9th street for a call of an unwanted party. Deputies arrived on scene and the individual was issued a warning. 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Poplar avenue for a domestic disturbance. Deputies arrived on scene and determined no crime was committed. Deputies separated the involved parties and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies responded to the 200 block of Bent Avenue for a call of suspicious activity. Deputies arrived on scene and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies responded to the 900 block of 6th street for a call of possible child abuse. Deputies arrived on scene and determined no child abuse had taken place. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered one of the involved parties had an active warrant for their arrest. The individual was taken into custody and transported to the Bent County Jail. 

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 6th for suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate anyone.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of 7th for suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate anyone.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of ash for lost/stolen tags. Deputies had the party fill out a statement form and listed the trailer tags as lost/stolen.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 6th for suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate anyone.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of McFee for suspicious activity. Deputies were unable to locate anyone.

3/27/2023

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Ambassador Thompson Boulevard for a call of a suspicious person. Deputies arrived on scene and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of 5th street for a call of an assault. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to all involved parties. Deputies issued a summons to the suspect.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Vigil for a report of theft. Deputies took pictures and statements.  

Deputies responded to the 32,000 block of County Road 11 for an ambulance call. Deputies arrived on scene and assisted medical staff. The individual was transported to the hospital. 

Deputies responded to 1st and St Vrain for a one car crash. Deputies took pictures of the scene and took statements from the witness.

Deputies responded to the area of 10th street and Elm Avenue for a call of a careless driver. Deputies responded to the area and contacted the individual. Deputies issued the driver a citation for careless driving. 

Deputies responded to the 11,000 block of County Road GG.5 for a call of harassment. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to all involved parties. Deputies determined everything was okay. 

3/28/2023

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of County road GG.5 for a call of fraud. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to the reporting party. Deputies provided a case number to the individual. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of St. Vrain Avenue for a welfare check. Deputies arrived on scene and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies responded to the Bent County Jail for an ambulance call. The individual refused medical attention.

Deputies responded to the 500 block of 5th St for a medical assist. The party did not want to be transported. 

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 6th St for a report of harassment. Both parties agreed to go their own way.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Poplar Avenue for a call of a domestic disturbance. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to all involved parties. Deputies determined no crime had been committed and all parties were separated. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of St Vrain Avenue for a welfare check. Deputies arrived on scene and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies received a call from an employer about an employee that possessed drugs located in the 25,000 of Highway 101. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to the reporting party. Deputies were able to locate and take possession of the narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The individual was escorted off the property. 

Deputies were dispatched to the 30000 of CR 10 for an ambulance assist. Deputies arrived and the patient was not loaded.

Deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Popular for a black dog at large. Deputies arrived on scene and were not able to locate the dog.

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and mile marker 407 for a motorist assist. Deputies arrived on scene and assisted the driver. 

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and mile marker 393 for a call of a traffic accident. Deputies arrived on scene and determined no accident had taken place. 

3/29/2023

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 6th street for a report of harassment. Deputies were unable to locate anyone else in the area.

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and Mile marker 409 for a motorist assist. The motorist left before deputies arrived.

Deputies were dispatched to the 30000 of CR 10 for a gas leak. Deputies arrived on scene and the gas company was called by the fire department.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop at Highway 50 and CR 14.5 for Lamar Police Department. LPD took one into custody.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Bent Ave for a trespassed person. Deputies were unable to locate the person.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Popular for a report of suspicious activity. Deputies discovered two parties having a verbal argument. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Bent for a medical assist. Deputies helped load the party.

3/30/2023

Deputies responded to 600 Carson for a party bleeding. Deputies were able to get the party medical care.

Deputies responded to Highway 50 and CR 7.5 for road debris. Deputies removed it from the highway.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Grove Ave on a report of a parking violation. Deputies will patrol the area. 

Deputies responded to the area of 5th St. and Lincoln Ave on a report of welfare check. Deputies found everything to be okay. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of St.Vrain Ave for a welfare check. Deputies found everything to be okay. 

Deputies were dispatched to the 300th block of Elm. Deputies arrived on scene and the dog was returned back to the owner.

Deputies responded to the 700 block of 3rd St. to give a message to the resident.

Deputies were dispatched to the 1900th block of 6th St. Deputies arrived and the dog was unable to be located. 

Deputies responded to the 400 block of south Main street in Hasty for a call of harassment. Deputies arrived on scene and determined everything was okay. 

Deputies responded to the 600 block of St. Vrain Ave for a welfare check. Deputies referred the party to Valley Wide Mental Health.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 4th St. on a report of a dog running at large. Deputies took the dog to the pound.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Poplar Ave for a report of a dog tied up. Deputies were unable to locate any dogs tied up outside.

Deputies were patrolling in the city limits of Las Animas and conducted a traffic stop for expired license plates. Deputies took one party into custody on their warrant and was issued a summons for driving under the influence.

Deputies completed a call back to a party about public service. Deputies informed the party we could call the ambulance for him, and he declined.

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of County Road 15 for a report of a burglary. Deputies were unable to locate any signs of a burglary.

3/31/2023

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th St. for a report of a party not breathing. Deputies arrived and administered NARCAN and assisted ambulance personnel. Party was transported to AVRMC.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Maple Ave for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted ambulance personnel.

Deputies responded to the 11,000 block of CR GG.5 to assist a motorist. The problem was fixed without incident.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 6th St. on a report of a panic alarm. Deputies found this to be a false alarm.

Deputies responded to the 30,000 block of CR 15 to assist the ambulance. The patient was loaded and transported to the hospital in La Junta. 

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Bent avenue for a traffic problem. Deputies advise a vendor to move the pallets from the handicap parking.

Deputies responded to the 11000 block of county road GG.5 for a medical assist. Party refused medical treatment.

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Elm for damaged property. Deputies arrange a tow for the vehicle.  

Deputies responded to the 600 block of Bent Ave for a report of overturned semi. Deputies arrived on scene and assisted Fire and EMS personnel. Deputies assisted with traffic control.

Deputies responded to the 6,000 block of Highway 50 on a report of theft. Deputies took a report and placed the property on the watch list. 

Deputies responded to the area of CR 20 and CR LL on a report of a suspicious person. Deputies investigated and found everything to be okay. 

Deputies responded to the Family Dollar parking lot for a report of a suspicious person. Deputies were not able to locate anyone that fit the description in the area. 

Deputies responded to the 800 block of 5th Street for a report of damaged property. Deputies provided the reporting individual with voluntary statement forms and will be waiting for an approximate value of the damage. 

Deputies responded to the area of 3rd Street and Locust Avenue for a report of suspicious activity. Deputies found everything to be okay.
