Cheraw Schools Notify Parents of Incident

Message from Cheraw School District:

"As many of you noticed, there was added caution as students were released from school today. Here is the short version of today's events."

"At roughly 3:30pm, an adult male who did not belong to the school attempted to enter the Ag Shop, and "engaged" Mr. Provost. A neighbor called 911. The male drove off. There was little time left at the end of the school day."

"We quickly changed our end-of-day routine. Students were not allowed to linger outside."

"Students were not allowed to leave the school building unless accompanied by an adult."

"A big THANK YOU to all parents who helped keep an eye and employees who adapted to the rapid changes and walked students home."

"I received word from the community that the male was apprehended by law enforcement. As of this time, school WILL be in session tomorrow."
